Super Visa 2.0

Effective July 4th

As Canada struggles to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, the government will continue to prioritize helping Canadian citizens/permanent residents achieve family reunification.

On June 7, the official website of the Canadian Immigration Department announced two pieces of good news about super visas:

1. The duration of entry and stay is extended to 7 years

From July 4, 2022, the length of stay per entry to Canada for Canadian super visa holders will be extended to five years.

Applicants can also apply for an additional 2-year residency extension within Canada, which means Super Visa holders can now stay in Canada for up to 7 consecutive years!

2. Allow super visa holders to purchase international insurance

The original policy required super visa applicants to purchase medical insurance from a designated Canadian insurer.

But starting July 4, super visa applicants will be allowed to purchase health insurance outside of Canada.

This means that Chinese super visa applicants can directly purchase Chinese insurance! The move is expected to save each family thousands of dollars in insurance costs.

The most direct benefit of this policy is that people who have settled in Canada and plan to bring their parents over to live with them, including Chinese immigrants of course.

The new policy applies to the crowd:

★ Long-term separation from parents/grandparents;

★ Parents/grandparents who wish to live in Canada for a long time;

★ Those who did not grab the share of reunion immigrants;

★ The Canadian sponsor has insufficient assets to apply for reunion immigration;

★ is applying for reunion immigration, the application is under review.

Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser said, “Families are at the heart of Canadian society. Improvements to the Super Visa Program, which allow family members to stay together for longer in Canada, will help Canadian citizens and permanent residents succeed and make a difference for society. contribute."
