Japan's Most Livable Cities
TA tops the list for the eighth consecutive year
On March 6, the Recruit Group released the SUUMO Ranking of the Most Livable Cities in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area 2025 (SUUMO住みたい街ランキング2025 Metropolitan Area Edition).
The survey was conducted using a web-based questionnaire among 10,000 men and women between the ages of 20 and 40 in the Tokyo metropolitan area (including Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, and Ibaraki Prefectures).
The ranking was calculated based on the respondents' preferences: they were asked to list their top three “cities (stations) where they would most like to live in the future,” with the first choice receiving three points, the second two points, and the third one point.
These scores were accumulated to give the final ranking of each city.
The top ten cities (stations) where I would most like to live are as follows:
★ No. 1: Yokohama (JR Keihin Tohoku Line)
★ No. 2: Omiya (JR Keihin Tohoku Line)
★ No. 3: Kichijoji (JR Chuo Line)
★ No. 4: Ebisu (JR Yamanote Line)

It is worth noting that Yokohama has been at the top of this ranking for eight consecutive years.
In terms of the distribution of votes, Yokohama is particularly highly favored by the 30 to 40 age group, especially dual-income families, and singles.
The reasons for Yokohama's reign at the top of the ranking are summarized below:

★ Culture & Entertainment: Numerous locations such as theaters, theaters, art galleries, and museums.
★ Business & Living: Numerous bustling business districts and high quality of life.
★ Medical Services: Comprehensive medical facilities are guaranteed.

★ Dining & Retail: Diverse dining and personal stores (bookstores, beauty salons, grocery stores, etc.).
★ Freedom of living: Freedom of living with less interaction between neighbors.
★ Location: Close to Tokyo, with easy access to public transportation and a beautiful view of the waterfront.
In addition, Yokohama is conveniently located for quick and direct access to major stations, including Tokyo Station (25 minutes), Ueno Station, Shinagawa Station (16 minutes), Shibuya Station (23 minutes), Shinjuku Station (28 minutes), and Ikebukuro Station, and is also close to Haneda Airport (24 minutes) and Narita Airport (1 hour 24 minutes).
